Customer Reviews

1)This was my first DAB radio of any description. I bought it about 3 months ago specifically to listen to while walking from a mainline London station to my office. I can’t comment on the reception of many stations as I habitually listen to only a few, but I’ve found that there’s very little signal drop-out even when walking between tall buildings/under scaffolding, etc. I don’t find the supplied earphones very comfortable, and I’m going to get some others. I use NiMH rechargeable batteries (2100mAh) and they last quite well – maybe 6 hours.

I’ve also used the radio on buses, and in my car, connected to the car radio with a cassette adaptor (instead of the earphones). It worked perfectly well, which really surprised me as I’ve read that ‘real’ DAB car radios aren’t very good.
Overall, I’m very pleased, and I would definitely recommend this model to anyone looking for a personal DAB radio.

2)I agree with all previous reports. My only two points are that the earphone socket could have been at the top rather than on the side. It could also do with a little carrying case to clip to your belt or to hang around your neck (as a woman do not always have a pocket to put it in). I tried various DAB radios and have 3 at home (non PS). I wanted something for work. Tried various others, but found they were no good (bad receiption, too big, etc.). After reading the reviews on this one, I had to try it. The positives out-weigh the negatives by far and therefore I gave it 5 stars!! It is excellent! I love it! Thanks Bush.

3)Compact,gd sound quality, easy to use ,and fairly robust, only thing I could say that I would have prefered is the headphone socket being located on the top rather than on the side, however apart fron that happy with radio.

4)I bought the Bush DAB Radio to replace an ageing and crackly analogue Phillips portable radio. I cycle 45 minutes each way to work and enjoy Radio 4. The reception is excellent especially in open areas, although it does break up in city streets and you get the distinctive burbling sound of an incomplete signal. I notice the reception deteriorates as the batteries get tired so that gives you some warning of their demise. I have never had the indicator up to the full battery symbol with new batteries installed. Even with my newly recharged ones they show 2 out of the 3 bars & thats even just for half an hour of use then down to one! With the Maplin rechargables I use and based on c90 minutes a day I will get a reliable 3 days from it but rarely more.

I use my own B&O earphones in it and this works just fine as an ariel (the instructions say that only the headphones supplied will work)My only gripe is really a general DAB grumble and that is that it takes almost half a minute from switching on until you get the full strength programme through your earphones. The volume also resets at a lower level after the batteries are replaced and then needs to be fished out of my pocket and boosted with the toggle.Overall though – very pleased with it, easy to use – self tunes and BBC 6 & 7 are great if there is nothing I like on 4!!

Portable Dab Radio

A portable radio is one that is a radio that is usually something that has a small handle and can be carried with that handle. It would be having a band of radio stations and you could listen to all your favorite radio programs.

Most importantly, you could carry the Portable Dab Radio, to any place you wish to especially at times like when you have just returned from your office and wish to go to the nearby stadium or tennis court (to see the match and wish to keep track of your favorite radio program or the latest news as well).

This could also hold good if you wish to relax on a holiday, or go to a golf course to watch a game. There could be a multitude of reasons how a Portable Dab radio can be of use to you and will serve you with all the programmes from the Radio stations of your choice with a digital quality and broacast mode reception.

Digital Audio Broadcasting (DAB) is a digital radio technology for broadcasting radio stations, used in several countries, particularly in Europe. As of 2006, approximately 1,000 stations worldwide broadcast in the DAB format. DAB may offer more radio programmes over a specific spectrum than analogue FM radio.

Tune into DAB and FM radio to enjoy a myriad of radio stations in crystal clear digital sound. The Radio models on offer have precise tuning through 20 preset stations with a handy joystick – all packaged in a sleek, portable design.

DAB is more robust with regard to noise and multipath fading for mobile listening, since DAB reception quality first degrades rapidly when the signal strength falls below a critical threshold, whereas FM reception quality degrades slowly with the decreasing signal.

DAB receivers have been available in many countries since the end of the nineties.

Portable DAB Radio DA1000 (Philips) indicates that:

The radio is of great quality; intuitive menus, fabulous reception (in and around all main cities), great clarity. When Phillips earphones, were swapped for Sony MDR-EX71SLs and were found to be ok. Infact, they seemed to enable good reception for longer periods (probably because they are physically long enough).

Customers, who have bought one of these pocket DAB radios found it to be working well. Very neat and easy to use. Good reception in all main cities and towns.

Excellent, FM reception as well and agreed that it fits inside coat pocket and that the battery life is good. Mains charger light was found to be working well and so the unit was good for use while travelling.

Customers increasingly, feel that it could be used in the Car as well, as the car has a Aux socket and it works well as a good reception area for all prospective radio stations and bands and therefore the same could be recommended to everybody.
